Currently under development is the Redsense clamp1, an accessory to the blood leakage alarm. The Clamp, empowers the alarm to stop the blood flow automatically by clamping the blood line, independent of the type of dialysis machine in use.
Previously, a proof of purpose study evaluating the theory, that a clamped line forces the dialysis machine’s pump to stop immediately, was conducted at Toronto UHN under supervision of Dr. Christopher Chan.
Further, a new version of the Redsense Alarm, enabling a direct connection into the nurse call system of a clinic to facilitate faster intervention, is also in the pipeline, currently in clinical evaluation.
