Risk Management
How to minimize the risks
ALL patients on HD are exposed to the risk of VND – a potentially life-threatening complication during treatment
Currently the usual HD blood flow rate is ≥350ml/min
A dislodged needle can cause SEVERE BLOOD LOSS within a few minutes
In Collaboration with the American and European nurse associations we have developed a Poster. A Poster which includes 12 Steps to follow to minimize the risk of VND, recommended by the Nephrology Nurses.
